Edition 1: The Beginning

Re-entry into The Writing Space

And so it begins…

Welcome to the first edition of The Adventure List's Substack. I'm Patricia, the person behind TAL. (TAL? Why did I write that? I don't even like abbreviations like this.  It's like TAC from the tv show Bull, which I loved by the way.) 

Anyways... a bit about me. 

I am a middle-aged wanderer and have been traveling full time since 2014 with a brief 4 year semi-stationary stint during those pesky pandemic years. Even then, I was traveling but I had an apartment too. The apartment was a godsend as mentally I needed to slow down and put in some temporary roots. Have my things around me. Not pack up and move every few weeks. Enjoy some "regular" life. However, the wanderlust in me would not go away.

Pre-2020 my travels were solo travel with a backpack. By working a summer job in Alaska, I was priveledged enough to be able to see a lot of cool international places in the wintertime. I preferred slow travel and still do. Back then I would stay for a month or more in one place or country. Now I travel in my small converted SUV. 

Since August 2023, I've been a car dweller traveling the United States. I haven't given up on my international backpacking days though. (I'm looking at you Fall 2025. It seems weird to write 2025 but it will be here before we know it). For now, I'm stateside and enjoying all the beauty the US has to offer and the freedom of car nomad life.

Plant the Seed

I was listening to The Mel Robbins Podcast (episode 150 "How to Achieve Your Most Ambitious Goals ) the other day. She was talking about the concept of "you have to put the seed in the soil to start growing again." The episode really resonated with me. I have been putting off newsletter/blogging type writing for a long time. Back in the day, I wrote two blogs, one about books and the other about traveling. I miss them. Cheers to resurrecting public writing! I'm planting the seed.
