I understand your slump. I am in one as well. Living in AZ the heat zaps me. Been having monsoon weather...heavy rain and high, gusting wind. Saw my first sandstorm! Also, my Sept - May commitments are on hiatus and I love the openness of my days. Only problem is I have no schedule and no deadlines to push me. I have decided this noncreative, unscheduled time is good for me. At my age (78), it feels like freedom. It also feels blah at times. Thx for this post. You have given me a reason to examine my summer schedule or lack thereof
Same (in terms of the heat) -- productivity and creativity just tank when the heat and humidity go up. I now finally understand siestas and why all shops close in the afternoon in Italy!
I don't know how you maintain any motivation in that AZ heat. There are times when noncreative, unscheduled time is needed. I think it helps with the creative process or life in general, really. Like you said Freedom. It's a lovely feeling.
I loved this life update!
Thank you for sharing your process with us and to normalise the slump that seems to knock us over sometimes.
I’ve just started leaning into painting too! Maybe we should swap photos! Didn’t think about the library. Great idea.💡
Thanks! The slump is real, that's for sure.
I hope you are enjoying painting. I fall in and out of it constantly.
I’m thinking of setting up a space where I can keep everything out so I can devote more time to it. (Also, with my ADHD, it will be a good visual cue)
